LAHORE: A Punjab Rangers helciopter crashed in the Indus river near Layyah on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.
DG Rangers Punjab Major-General Mohammad Nawaz was reportedly in the helicopter, sources said.
Rescue teams have been dispatched to the crash site.
“There were five people on board including Major-General Mohammad Nawaz, director general of the Punjab Rangers. It fell into a river,” Reuters quoted a military official as saying.
“We don’t know the cause as well as casualties,” the official said on condition of anonymity.
