Whey Protein Vs. Soy Protein for Weight Loss

Thursday, May 26, 2011
. even if that trip happens to be decently long, the burden of carrying all that baggage for a long time is definitely worse than having your trip cut short! No, I don't mean to say that overweight people don't deserve to live long - all I want to say is that they deserve to live longer and healthier with a better quality of life. That's why it becomes imperative to make sure that the body weight is within healthy limits so that all aspects of life can be enjoyed to their utmost extents! Coming back to the issue of protein for weight loss, before we even touch upon the whey protein vs. soy protein debate, let me quickly brief you on what role protein plays in weight loss and fat burning. Proteins, or rather, the amino acids that form the proteins, are the building blocks of the hardware of life. In other words, all tangible aspects of an organism are primarily made of proteins among other organic compounds. Most importantly, the muscle mass is almost entirely made of proteins that take different forms (fibers, connective tissues, etc.) and combine to give the entire musculature its basic architecture.

Now, all of you who are actively involved in weight loss and muscle building activities are well aware that apart from the bones, blood vessels, glands and other organs in the body, the remaining soft matter is composed of muscles and fats in complementary proportions. That means more muscles leave less room for fats and vice versa. When you workout, you burn fats. Add a high protein intake to your workout regime and there - all that extra vacancy created on burning fats gets occupied by newly developed lean muscles. That leaves even less room for fats to accumulate! It's like a benign cycle. Also, proteins are very filling. Even if you consume a small amount of protein, you will feel full sooner than, say, if you were consuming carbohydrates or trans fats. Therefore, by eliminating body space for fats and curbing hunger and cravings, dietary protein and supplements help you shed fat and also keep you from gaining weight. Now, coming to the issue of  in context of weight loss, let's take a look at the differences so that it becomes easier for you to decide which one's best for you.

Appropriate beverage consumed when undergoing Diets

Sunday, July 4, 2010
Appropriate beverage consumed when undergoing DietsIf you're dieting to lose weight, you should not just eat foods that can contribute a high rate of your body weight on the scales, but also beverages. Various beverages that do not we know it could worsen the situation of our diet. Sometimes we do not know and do not understand what you drink can affect your body weight.

Maybe you should start now to be careful in determining the intake of drinks for your body. That’s many drinks that can ruin your diet plan.
Energy drinks

For sports and energy drinks are calorie bombs, such as soda. Energy drinks do have extra nutrients, but you could still get the same vitamins and minerals in low-calorie foods. People who are serious to lose weight should keep his body hydrated by drinking water rather than sports specifically.

Soda

Each time you drank a bottle of soda, you consume hundreds of empty calories. According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the United States, carbonated soft drinks are the largest source of calories in the diet of American society. For some, the move to low-calorie soft drinks (diet soda) is another way, but not proven whether such displacement can reduce body weight. For some people, diet soda can increase the desire to keep eating sweet foods.

Which helps diet:

White water

Replacing carbonated soft drinks with water will cut hundreds of calories per day, and its profits are not limited to that alone. Drink two glasses of water before a big meal can make the stomach feel full more quickly, so no need to eat as much as usual. Additionally, recent research shows that drinking lots of water can be a positive influence for your metabolism.

Black coffee

When you need a boost of caffeine, coffee is a better choice than soda or other energy drinks. Black coffee is a beverage that is free of calories and rich in antioxidants. Another study says that coffee drinkers in sufficient quantities (about 3-4 cups per day) can help your mood and concentration, and lowered risk of type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer.

Green tea

Green tea is the best choice when you are looking for a little caffeine. Not only free of calories, some researchers even say that green tea extract can stimulate the body weight reduction through the action of its phytochemicals. This is an existing substance in plants that can help the body burn calories and shed fat in a while. This advantage only lasted a few hours, so it would be very helpful if you can drink green tea twice per day.

Vegetable juice

Vegetable juices have the same nutritional fruit juice, but with only half the number of calories. Vegetable juices with rich in fiber, and able to withstand hunger.

Drinks that must be considered:

Fruit juice

Fruit juice has the same calories of soda, but fruit juice has more content, not just nutrients. This poses a dilemma. You need vitamins and antioxidants without any added sugar. To be safe, it is advisable to consume juice made from 100 percent fruit. Avoid that has been added sweeteners. See the label for the percentage of the original juice. You also can reduce calories by mixing juice and water.

Smoothies

Glad to order a smoothie at the restaurant? Try to make your own, combine bananas, strawberries and blueberries to make a smoothie. The mixture was composed of vitamins and minerals that are strong enough to help the body fight disease. Homemade smoothie is good enough for your body because you can control the contents of low-fat milk and fresh fruit is what you need. Smoothies that you ordered from the restaurant already contain ice cream, honey or other sweeteners to make the calories they contain the higher.

Low-fat milk

Eating calcium-rich foods good for the body, but the calcium will not help you reduce body weight, as found by the researchers. Several previous studies say that calcium can actually delay the body to burn fat, but little evidence supports this claim. Lack of calcium in the body can actually trigger an increase in production of fat cells. To get the benefits of calcium without consuming extra fat, choose low-fat milk, yogurt, and cheese.

However, you are still advised to drink lots of water to maintain fluid balance in the body.

Weight-loss diets may reverse atherosclerosis in obese, overweight people

Monday, June 28, 2010
A low-carbohydrate diet, a low-fat diet and the Mediterranean diet were equally effective in helping obese people to reverse carotid atherosclerosis after losing moderate amounts of weight and improving their blood pressure, in a study reported in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.

Researchers at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Nuclear Research Center and Soroka Hospital in Israel investigated whether diet could reverse atherosclerosis, a slow, progressive condition in which the arteries thicken with plaque buildup, increasing risk of heart attacks and strokes. The research team compared the three diets among overweight participants, mostly men, who were at high risk for atherosclerosis.

The researchers said, beyond drug treatment, the data is some of the earliest showing the potential of diet as a lifestyle modification strategy to prevent atherosclerosis. The findings indicate that sustained, moderate weight loss — not the macronutrient content of the different diets — leads to improved cardiovascular health.

Weight-loss diets may reverse atherosclerosis in obese, overweight people

“The reduced caloric intake is probably the major determinant of weight loss, but the macronutrient content determines patients’ satisfaction with the diet and the metabolic changes associated with the weight loss,” said Yaakov Henkin, M.D., study co-author and a cardiologist at Soroka University Medical Center, Israel. “The importance of these results is in the understanding that over two years, changes in carotid atherosclerosis are more strongly predicted by diet-induced changes in blood pressure.”

The study’s findings are promising and could be applicable to other populations. But since few women were in the study, gender-specific effects remain unknown, researchers said.

American Heart Association diet and lifestyle recommendations underscore the importance of balancing calories with physical activity to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight and acknowledge that macro nutrient content of the diet has little effect on energy balance with the exception of influencing diet satisfaction.

Burn Calories With More Variation Exercise

Thursday, June 10, 2010
Burn Calories With More Variation ExerciseIf you've got to know other forms of fitness exercises that can be done alone at home, certainly exciting sport began to be felt for you. You do not need to waste money to become a member at the gym. In order to exercise more effective, follow a few tips from personal trainer these Hollywood celebrities.

It is not enough cardio exercise
Ramona Braganza, personal trainer of his clients includes Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, and Kate Beckinsale, said that one of the biggest mistakes women when fitness is only doing cardio exercises. "It causes you to look 'skinny fat', looked thin but not the body shape," he said.

In order to better shape your body, do exercises like squats and lunge strength twice a week (also use a dumbbell). This will form the muscles of a leaner, as well as encourage your metabolism.

No need to lift weights to form the body
That means you do not need to exercise hindered simply because there is no equipment in the fitness center as resistance machines. You can also get the same results using your own body weight as resistance, according to Jackie Warner, trainer from Bravo's Work Out show.

For example, push-ups
Push-ups are one example of endurance exercises using your own body. "Push-ups the right muscles for the central and upper body. This movement forms the chest, back, shoulders, arms and stomach as well, "said Warner.

To do push-ups correctly, put both hands on the floor straight below the shoulder, and stretch your legs behind you. Drag, or lock you into the belly, then hold your body in a straight line from head to heel. Slowly lower your body, elbow bent upward (not sideways), then lift it back. Although you can not do it 10 times, you still get the benefit, you know.

Pause to give quick results
Changing one or two minutes of cardio exercise (whether it's biking, jogging, or aerobics) with your normal speed with one or two minutes with more speed, it will burn fat faster than usual exercise. For even greater results, Braganza suggested exercises with a pause, which combines strength training and cardio. For example, do 10 minutes cardio, then three or four strength training movements such as lunge or bicep curls (bicep curl with a dumbbell front). Repeat two more times, and then you've done your whole body exercise during the first hour.

Energy drinks just too heavy exercise
Unless you practice hard enough, you should not have to consume energy drinks. "I have a Klin could drink a few bottles of energy drinks during the first hours of training," said Teddy Bass, trainer Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Christina Applegate. "Finally I said, 'You may have to burn 400 calories with me, but you just drank 500 calories. "

So, if you only practice for one hour's, just drink regular water.

Variations exercise more effective to reduce weight
"Our body is very smart, because it can adapt to a routine exercise in six weeks. So, you need to vary his training, "said Warner. You do not have to do exercise routines that really new to always see the results. The little things like changing the order of training are also quite helpful.

Oolong Tea for Treat The Weight Loss

Wednesday, April 29, 2009
There is so much interest in weight loss and oolong tea (a.k.a. wulong tea) that we are going to look at research supporting the connection.

Let's start at the beginning

All tea comes from one plant Camellia Sinensis if it doesn't come from that plant it is not tea (herbs come from a variety of plants). Over time, the plant has protected itself from photosynthetic stressors by forming chemical compounds known as polyphenols. Polyphenols, which include flavonoids, have the same beneficial class of compounds, antioxidants, that make fruits and vegetables good for you.

The difference in green tea and oolong tea is processing. All tea is green when picked. Green tea is heated in order to halt the natural enzymatic reaction (oxidation) of the leaf. Once dried, green tea leaves are then rolled intentionally breaking the cell structure. Oolong tea leaves are plucked, kept under carefully controlled conditions and allowed to oxidize. These leaves are not intentionally broken, leaving most of the cell structure intact. These processing differences make each category of tea beneficially different even though they come from the same plant.

The Weight Loss Connection

The two main ways to reduce food related body weight are; increase energy expenditure (EE) and inhibit the absorption of nutrients, including fat and carbohydrates. Caffeine is a stimulant so it is widely accepted that the caffeine in tea increases metabolism, hence increasing EE. So the question becomes, is it only the caffeine or are other compounds in the tea contributing to that increase?

Let's Face It

- Oolong tea is not a quick fix despite the recent advertising claims by slick marketing "professionals."

-Oolong tea does not have to be expensive to be effective. $39.95 is too much to pay for a 30 day supply of low quality oolong. Remember to get what you pay for.

- These studies do not indicate that oolongs grown in a specific area are better fat burners than other oolongs. It's the processing that counts.

- Losing 20 lbs in 30 days by adding two cups of oolong tea to your daily routine is nothing more than hype. If this were true, I'd be a size 2.

- If you were dieting, drinking oolong and exercising it would be hard to achieve that much weight loss in 30 days.

- If it sounds too good to be true, then it is to good to be true!

Oolong - The Facts

- Oolong teas taste great and are delicious hot or cold.

- There is a tremendous variety of affordable oolong tea.

- Enjoy a cup of oolong 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to your walk, workout or yoga session and reap the rewards!

- Drink oolong in the afternoon to stave off late day sweet cravings and energy slumps.

- All of these aid in healthy weight loss and maintenance
