Which is Better - Xbox or Wii

Saturday, May 28, 2011
When it comes to picking between the best video game consoles that are available in the market, there are only three great choices. The Sony PlayStation 3, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii are the kings of the console market, and old players like Atari and Sega are firmly out of the picture. The Sony PlayStation 3 has been reviewed in depth on Buzzle, and in this article we will be looking at a direct comparison between the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

Comparing sales figures, we find that the Wii has clearly outdone the Xbox 360 by more than 30 - 40 million units worldwide even though the Xbox 360 was released in May 2005 while the Wii came out in November 2006. This is because the Wii targeted a new demographic consisting of young children and elderly people along with the regular gamers, thanks to its unique motion gaming technology.

However, a direct comparison of the specs of the two consoles, the additional features that they provide and the number of updated models released paints a different picture. The Xbox 360 can do so much more than just play video games and is also infinitely more powerful than the Wii. The Wii is seriously falling behind in the console market now, and this is because nothing new has been added since the original 2006 release. Meanwhile Microsoft, and even Sony, have released their own versions of motion gaming as well, so the only real distinguishing factor of the Wii has been negated.

Finding the best PC for college student, is certainly difficult owing to the fact that the PC or the market is highly dynamic market with changes taking place every hour and new models being introduced almost in a weekly basis. Online Shopping: Where to Compare?

Saturday, May 21, 2011
As a quick glance through the articles surrounding this one will show, these days, you’re unlikely to find an even halfway savvy consumer buying anything without looking around a little online first. Well, except for e-bay auction items, maybe. In fact, I just bought a crummy camera posing as a much better one on e-bay, and was so caught up in a small bidding war and in really wanting to get something good for cheap that I didn’t even look the thing up before entering the winning bid. But that’s different—I’m not an even halfway savvy consumer. Maybe a quarterway savvy, but that’s about it. I’m talking here about people who buy smart.

Except here’s the thing: what does it mean to buy smart, actually? I’m not comparison shopping is bad—not at all—but I do want to suggest that even a habit of comparison shopping doesn’t guarantee the "best buy." Moreover, I suspect that doing all one’s comparison shopping online actually makes finding the "best buy" less likely, especially if we really stop to think about what we mean by the "best buy." Following, a personal anecdote to draw out the points I hope to make:

Quad Core vs Dual Core – Performance

Sunday, May 15, 2011
Just like putting in more cylinders in a car engine provides greater speed and power, one would think that putting in twice as many processors should double the performance speed, right? Unfortunately, that is not true in case of multiprocessor chips and the speed does not double up, but is substantially higher. The reason for that is twofold. Although a dual or a quad core has multiple cores, the clocking speed does not double up as the task is not shared by the two or four processors simultaneously. However, there is an increased multitasking ability due to division of tasks among the chips. So quad cores can be fast but not twice as fast.

The second reason why the increased speed of the quad core due to greater multitasking ability is not useful is the incompatibility of softwares being run on them. The software that is being run has to have a multithreading facility. That is, it should be programmed to be able to use the four cores at a time! Very few software products can do that currently. If you run Adobe Photoshop on a quad core, which has a multithreading facility, you will see the application zooming fast compared to that on a dual core computer. Though the clocking speed is not substantially higher than dual core processors, quad processors offer phenomenal multitasking ability which surpasses any other processors. Let us get into a more specific comparison in terms of the quad core vs dual core – benchmarks. Here I present a performance comparison between Intel's dual core vs quad core processors and AMD's quad core vs dual core processors.
