Small, easy, handy are today’s buzzwords where everything goes either the user-friendly way or else flying right into the bin, the desi Bollywood gets a new avatar too. Hungama mobile, a well-known entertainment aggregator, has launched world’s first Bollywood channel for mobile phones.
‘Bollywood is made for mobile’, says Hungama mobile CEO Neeraj Roy. The channel is called Bollywood Express and will be available in India as soon as the government rolls out 3G services. However, it has been already rolled out last month in Malaysia on Maxis network.
The channel will be on 2.5G and 3G networks in countries such as Dubai, Maldives, Mauritius, Pakistan, South Africa, UK, Singapore, and Oman. For Gulf region, the content may be dubbed in Tamil and Malyalam as well.
The channel will hold live and exclusive events. Giving a precedent, Hungama last month showed IIFA awards 2007 on mobile before the show was aired on TV outside India. Bollywood Express will be compatible on all high-end sets of Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorala.
Now the drab mobile which once harbored the Rani Mukherjee wallpaper or a Hindi classic Ringtone can also offer you the whole movie right on your fingertips.
The necessary accessory, which books tickets, makes connections for you (leave aside all, even doubles for your TV remote when it turns effigy) can now also act your wholesome entertainment guru.
