Designer looks at a resale deal

Tuesday, June 21, 2011
Post Christmas, bank accounts are in tatters and tolerance for mall parking lots and checkout lines has diminished.
But the hankering for wardrobe upgrades remains. Resale stores are an alternative to malls and after-holiday markdown merchandise, and they're one of the Valley's best sources for high-quality clothes and accessories at discounted prices.
From gently used Chanel handbags to vintage costume jewelry, you can track down affordable designer items. One such hunt delivered a silk Phillip Lim skirt for $139.97 with its original price tag of $425 still attached.
In addition to cashing in on great deals, you also can pass on some of your own clothes at these resale stores and earn extra money or trade them for something you want.
Check out our guide to some of the Valley's resale stores and their consignment policies, types of merchandise each carries and how the buy-sell-trade game works.
Here are some stylish looks we put together with consignment shop merchandise.
