Oolong Tea for Treat The Weight Loss

Wednesday, April 29, 2009
There is so much interest in weight loss and oolong tea (a.k.a. wulong tea) that we are going to look at research supporting the connection.

Let's start at the beginning

All tea comes from one plant Camellia Sinensis if it doesn't come from that plant it is not tea (herbs come from a variety of plants). Over time, the plant has protected itself from photosynthetic stressors by forming chemical compounds known as polyphenols. Polyphenols, which include flavonoids, have the same beneficial class of compounds, antioxidants, that make fruits and vegetables good for you.

The difference in green tea and oolong tea is processing. All tea is green when picked. Green tea is heated in order to halt the natural enzymatic reaction (oxidation) of the leaf. Once dried, green tea leaves are then rolled intentionally breaking the cell structure. Oolong tea leaves are plucked, kept under carefully controlled conditions and allowed to oxidize. These leaves are not intentionally broken, leaving most of the cell structure intact. These processing differences make each category of tea beneficially different even though they come from the same plant.

The Weight Loss Connection

The two main ways to reduce food related body weight are; increase energy expenditure (EE) and inhibit the absorption of nutrients, including fat and carbohydrates. Caffeine is a stimulant so it is widely accepted that the caffeine in tea increases metabolism, hence increasing EE. So the question becomes, is it only the caffeine or are other compounds in the tea contributing to that increase?

Let's Face It

- Oolong tea is not a quick fix despite the recent advertising claims by slick marketing "professionals."

-Oolong tea does not have to be expensive to be effective. $39.95 is too much to pay for a 30 day supply of low quality oolong. Remember to get what you pay for.

- These studies do not indicate that oolongs grown in a specific area are better fat burners than other oolongs. It's the processing that counts.

- Losing 20 lbs in 30 days by adding two cups of oolong tea to your daily routine is nothing more than hype. If this were true, I'd be a size 2.

- If you were dieting, drinking oolong and exercising it would be hard to achieve that much weight loss in 30 days.

- If it sounds too good to be true, then it is to good to be true!

Oolong - The Facts

- Oolong teas taste great and are delicious hot or cold.

- There is a tremendous variety of affordable oolong tea.

- Enjoy a cup of oolong 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to your walk, workout or yoga session and reap the rewards!

- Drink oolong in the afternoon to stave off late day sweet cravings and energy slumps.

- All of these aid in healthy weight loss and maintenance

Five Easy Steps for Permanent Change

Changes in your life require new behaviors. New behaviors take time to become habits and habits are needed for permanent change. Here are five steps for helping you make new habits.

First you need to decide what you want specifically to happen. If you went to the airport and told them, “Give me a ticket,” what would the airline employee ask? “Where would you like to go?” If you told them, “Just give me a ticket to anywhere,” what would they do? They would probably have airport security take you away and have your mental stability evaluated. People say they want change but they just don’t know what the change will look like. So easy step one is “Visualize your Goal”.

Second you need to determine what you’ll get from making the change. Let’s say you’ve decided to become healthier and lose weight because your doctor told you that you were too heavy. Everything we do is for one of two reasons, either to avoid pain or increase pleasure. So you might ask yourself, “What will happen to my health if I change my health habits?” You might see yourself as slim and trim and more attractive to the opposite sex. That would be changing for a pleasurable reason or reward. A different question could be “What would happen if I don’t change? This might lead you to see yourself having a heart problem limiting what you can do in life. This would be changing to avoid pain. So you’ll change either to avoid pain or to receive a pleasurable reward. The second easy step is “Determine the Reward You’ll Get from Making the Change.”

The third easy step is you have to decide what is it you have to do to change. Let’s stick with the decision to become healthier and lose weight. What steps would be needed to reduce your weight and become healthier? The steps might be exercise more, reduce your intake of fatty foods, eat more fiber, and reduce your portion size. You also need to give yourself a start date to start. So the next easy step to make a change is to “List What You Need to Do and Give Yourself a Start Date.”

Your next easy step for change is to take action. You have decided to lose weight and become healthier. You have made exercise a key component of your plan. Now you need to start so you begin exercising on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays mornings at the gym. This easy step is simply to “Take Action”.

Your final easy step is to maintain what you have decided to do. You have decided to exercise every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6 Am. The first week everything goes well. The second week you start off good on Monday, Wednesday you drag yourself out of bed but by Friday you decide you need your sleep so you stay in bed. The next week you exercise on Monday but you sleep in the rest of the week. Of course this won’t work. You need to stick to your plan. So this easy step is “Stick to Your Plan.”

Now let’s review the steps:
1) Visualize Your Goal then ‘
2) Determine the Reward You’ll Get from Making the Change
3) List What You Need to Do and Give Yourself a Start Date
4) Take Action
5) Stick to Your Plan

That’s it, five easy steps that you can use for permanent change.

Making Homemade Body Lotions

Making body lotions at home do not require a degree in science to make. Body lotion making is actually a rather simple process. Making lotions at home can be a personalized experience others will want to know the secrets to. The lotions can be made with one's favorite scent or made specifically to help certain skin issues like extremely dry skin or overly sensitive skin, as well as making it with ingredients that are natural and not synthetic. Creativity and a few supplies are needed for making the lotions.

To begin the lotion making process, an emulsifying wax, water, oil, fragrance and a colorant if desired. Choosing the specific materials for the body lotion being made can be found at craft supply stores or through the Internet. Next, the materials that are used for making the body lotions should be washed thoroughly in order to prevent any contamination.

Here are some steps to create the ideal body lotion. Making body lotion is only a matter of following a recipe.

* First Step: Mix the chosen oils and water with the emulsifying wax. This will be the base for forming the remainder of the body lotion. In order for the water and oils not to separate, the emulsifying wax is necessary.

* Second Step: Next is to add the essential oils, used for scenting the lotion as well as for aromatherapy reasons which provide a feeling of well-being. After adding the essential oils, the fragrance oils may be added for the scent of choice.

* Third Step: The next thing to follow is the colorants if one chooses to use it. The colorants can come from natural sources such as powder extract forms of fruits, vegetables, spices or plants. Colorants may also be purchased from laboratories.

* Fourth Step: The last step is bottling the lotion. Jars, tubes, plastic containers may be used for body lotion storage, including a pump or using a squirt bottle may be helpful when looking for a container. Be sure to label the container with what it is as well as the ingredients used.

Keeping a record of what works and what does not with scents and oils will be helpful in making future batches of lotion. Some other ideas for body lotions is placing additives into it such as glitter or SPF for sun protection or even skin tinting. There are many recipes for body lotions made at home that can be found on the Internet. A more natural made body lotion can be made with olive or peanut oil and aloe vera that has been blended together. Adding Vitamin E capsules to the body lotion mixture will add extra benefits for the skin.

If a person is making the body lotions as gifts, try making some for the males as well. To make an after-shave lotion for the men, add one ounce of sage and one ounce of dried lavender leaves to two cups of witch hazel. Place the mixture in a tightly sealed container and place in a very warm area over a one week period of time. Strain the mixture and bottle again in containers acceptable for gift-giving.

Other ideas for gift-giving is to seal the container, if possible, with a wax seal, or perhaps a raffia bow with a nice tag. The containers themselves can be an attractive gift in themselves.

Green Tea: An Antioxidant Power House

Green tea unlike black tea is high in polyphenols, which have powerful cancer fighting antioxidant properties. These beneficial compounds will vary from season to season along with the climate the plant is located in so not all green tea supplements are the same. Also, harvesting processes will determine how much healing polyphenols are left in the herb at time of encapsulation. Many studies have come out on the benefits of green tea and a few on black teas, with all this research, scientists still believe green tea is better than black tea as an antioxidant and cancer prevention herb.

With all the research pointing to the positive benefits of green tea, more than 4 times the amount of black tea is consumed in the United States and around the world as apposed to green tea. With in the next few years green tea is expected to grow in popularity by leaps and bounds. Many gourmet coffee shops have added green tea to their menu, along with grocery stores. At gas stations, bottled green tea can be purchased as well in the United States.

Ninety percent of all the research done on green tea has been done on its ability to fight cancer. Green tea has a greater Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) then both vitamin C and vitamin E, this means green tea can fight free radical damage better than either vitamin. Green tea not only has a great ORAC value, it also helps improve the body’s natural antioxidant activity as well. Studies have shown that green tea inhibits the creation of nitrosamines and carcinogens that cause cancer in the body, as well as helps detoxify other cancer causing agents. Green tea has shown to be effective against breast, colon, lung, pancreas, stomach, and small intestine cancers.

Another recent study suggested that green tea can protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Green tea, when ingested or rubbed on the skin externally in both tea or extract form, showed skin protection from the sun. Green tea is good for sensitive skin and can help sooth irritations offering relief to those individuals with sensitive skin. Many cosmetic companies are adding green tea as their main ingredient to help reduce fine lines. Green tea can safely be used with facial steaming and herbal baths to help sooth the skin.

Green tea does contain small amounts of caffeine, but the caffeine does not exhibit the same stimulating effects as other caffeinated beverages. To date, there have not been any significant side effects reported so daily consumption is safe for most individuals. Some individuals need to stay away from all caffeinated products; supplement manufactures now offer caffeine free green tea as well.

For centuries third world countries have been benefiting from the consumption of green tea, don’t you think its time we start to as well? Green tea in regular or decaf can be found at your local or internet health food store.

Natural Better Night's Sleep Tips

Saturday, April 25, 2009
Do you find yourself having trouble falling asleep? Are there times you can easily fall asleep, but then awaken 5 hours later and have great difficulty falling back to sleep? Have you awaked on numerous occasions at night or have difficulty keeping asleep? You are one a great many people in America who have some form of trouble sleeping. What follows are a group of tips to help you sleep better.

Daytime Tips

Don't take a daytime nap. A daytime nap will make it harder to sleep at bedtime.

Open your curtains to sunlight or turn on the lights after you awaken. Bright light helps your body reset its internal clock and tells you it is time to awaken.

Be careful with alcohol caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine is a stimulant and will keep you awake. Alcohol has been known to disrupt sleep habits.

Exercise. Exercise helps to stimulate your body and mind. Dont exercise before bedtime though.

Limit the use of Tobacco products. The Nicotine in tobacco is stimulating and can keep you awake.

Better Bedroom Tips

The bedroom is for sleeping and intimacy. Daytime activities should be restricted in the bedroom.

A peaceful and mellow environment. Make sure there is enough fresh air and that your bedroom is quiet with perhaps some soft music. Run a white noise machine or use a sleep session before bed.

A large and comfortable Bed. A large enough bed will help you and your bedmate sleep comfortably. Make sure your mattress works for both of you. Memory foam pillows can prevent strain on your neck and pillows on either side of your body can prevent back strain.

Pre-sleep Tips

A splash of cool water. One of my favorites is to gently splash myself with cool water before bed. The coolness tends to slow down the body's metabolism and make you more restful.

Maintain a constant schedule. Your body's clock works best when you go to bed and awaken at the same time every day.

Use sleep time cues. Soft music in the background, a cup of sleepytime tea, etc.will make your subconscious mind realize that it is getting to be time for sleep.

Don’t eat greasy foods before bed. Heavy oils can cause heartburn and make your sleep shallow and unrestful.

Limit fluids before bedtime. If you drink too much before bed you may find yourself awakening to use the facilities.

Some foods can help with sleep. Tryptophan in turkey, milk, and peanuts, can be converted into serotonin, which helps you sleep.

Forget your worries. Fear of what could happen is a stimulant that you don't need at bedtime. Work out your alternatives to cope with your fears and take action on them during the day.

Meditate before bed. Meditation or Hypnosis programs before bed will quiet the mind and make it easier to fall asleep.

Going back to sleep Tips

Guided Imagery. Pleasant and monotonous mental images will help you drift back off to sleep. Try watching the ocean waves going in and out on the shoreline in your mind; or picture birds sleeping, or watch the gentle breathing of you chest

If you just cant go back to sleep. Try to do something relaxing out of bed...Hatha Yoga exercises done slowly can help. A video of nature scenes can often work wonders. Just don't lie there worrying about not sleeping.

Leave the lights off or put them on very low. Intense light tells the mind that it is time to wake up and it will keep you awake for several hours.

Use something with soft mellow sounds or music. Loud rapid tempo sounds and music stimulate the mind. Instead play music or sounds that are slower and with less volume

Combat Cellulite With Aromatherapy

As you may know, Aromatherapy is the use of volatile liquid parts of plants, which are called essential oils, for various natural treatments. It is a holistic alternative therapy that has been used since antiquity from all major civilizations and its popularity has been increasing recently.

Cellulite is the dimpling skin found especially on thighs and sometimes on tummy, back of arms and bottom which looks lumpy and ripply. While it is harmless, cellulite discomforts female population especially in summer time. Almost every woman (even the slimmest ones) has cellulite to some degree. It is believed that cellulite is not only fat, but accumulation of fat, fluids and toxins which are trapped in the skin, owing to weakening of the connective tissue.

Cellulite is caused by numerous reasons. Upon the whole, cellulite is genetically inherited from mother to daughter and related with female hormones and their changes. Cellulite is magnified during pregnancy, menstruation and estrogens therapy. Estrogen hormone plays the major part in determining intensity, formation and expansion of cellulite condition. Men’s lack of estrogen hormone, is the reason why men don not have cellulite on their body. What is more, diet poor in fibre, rich in fat and salt, smoking and inactive lifestyle contribute to cellulite aggravation.

Keep in mind that there are many things to do to reduce cellulite, but nothing can eliminate one hundred percent the “orange peel” surface of female skin at affected areas. Just to name few, increasing body exercise, decreasing fat income and sugar, drinking many cups of water, avoiding coffee and eating fruits rich in C vitamin, are suggested for combating cellulite. In this article we will present you some aromatherapy tips that can help you remove cellulite.

Essential oils can assist with anti-cellulite treatment in two major ways: Reducing body toxins, waste matter and imprisoned liquids and enhancing blood circulation. The essential oils that are used most for cellulite therapy are Juniper, Citrus, Rosemary, Lemon, Lemongrass, Grapefruit and Geranium oil. Bath and especially massage are the most effective Aromatherapy uses for a successful cellulite cure.

Add 5-10 drops of your favourite essential oil in your bath water and stay in it for at least fifteen minutes, once a week. This time allows essential oil to penetrate your skin and its diuretic and circulation boosting action to be more effective.

Aromatherapy massage is probably the most useful alternative method for treating cellulite because it is applied directly to the affected part of skin and encourage body detoxication and blood circulation. Carrier (or base) oils from various vegetables are used for essential oil dilution. Appropriate carrier oils for massage are among others, Avocado, Jojoba and Almond. Remember to follow carefully the safety rules for essential oils uses. Otherwise, you will run the risk to irritate and harm your skin.

Aromatherapy is not only a delightful and refreshing activity. It is beneficial for a lot of health conditions including skin diseases like cellulite. Using the right essential oils in bath and massage you can regenerate skin cells and reduce the toxins and fat that turn into cellulite.

Follow Your Heart

Why It’s Important to Follow Your Heart?

There is a universal intelligence or knowingness in each and every one of us. When you are open to this intelligence of the heart, it guides you in the right direction to do what is best for you and those around you.

Following this intuitive knowing attracts to you whatever you need as you need it. You find yourself having, being and doing whatever is right for you in the moment for your highest good.

Your heart knows what actions are appropriate for you to take to attract to you what is appropriate for you. Your heart also knows when to give or act without wanting anything in return.

Following your heart also feels great. There is an inner sense of peace and completion as well as love and compassion as you allow yourself to follow your heart. This feels so good it is often its own reward.

What if I Have Attempted to Follow My Heart Unsuccessfully?

Even though you have probably heard the advice “follow your heart” before you know it is not always as easy as it sounds.

First of all, we have been programmed by society to believe in and trust our minds over our hearts, so we may not even try to follow the intelligence of the heart. In my experience this is a grave mistake. Our mind can only respond after the fact based on memory, while our heart – our intuitive knowing – is always in the now responding appropriately to what is actually going on.

Even if we believe in the value of trusting the intuitive knowingness that flows from the heart, we can not always tell the difference between intuition and emotional reaction. They often can start out feeling the same.

The Way to Open Yourself to the Wisdom of the Heart

There is a simple yet powerful way for you to uncover your intuitive knowingness and follow your heart… Letting go! It is very simple. When you believe you are either being mislead by the mind or are not sure that gut sense you are experiencing is actually intuition, simply let go using The Sedona Method.

If you let go and it is simply mental confusion or emotional reaction it will simply lessen as you let go and may even fully disappear. If it is a message from your heart – your own knowingness – it will simply get quieter and clearer as you let go.

Now you know why Lester Levenson, the inspiration behind The Sedona Method, said “Intuition is only right 100% of the time.” He knew as you now do that if you let go of your reactions and trust the true messages of the heart you can not go wrong.

Allow yourself to explore letting go instead of allowing your doubt or reactions to control you the next time you are attempting to know what to do. You will find yourself following your heart and naturally moving in the direction of attracting all that is for your highest good.

Please let us know how following your heart is helping you achieve what you desire. Please also share this information with everyone you know.

Good Morning with Good Quotes

No man is worth a woman's tears and the one who is would never make her cry.

The things that people in love do to each other they remember, and if they stay together it's not because they forget, it's because they forgive.

I never knew how to worship until I knew how to love.

Love: Two minds without a single thought.

Love is like playing the piano. First you must learn to play by the rules, then you must forget the rules and play from your heart.

If i get ur smile,i dont need flowers,if i hear ur voice i dont need music,if u speak to me i dont need anybody,if u r my friend i dont need the word "miss u "

One stone is enough 2 break a glass,1 sentence is enough 2 break heart,1 second is enough 2 fall in love & one friend is enough to spend a life

Good friend hard to find harder to leave impossible to forget

Medicines & Friendships both cure problems. Only diff is that friendship do not have an expiry date, no price no dosage.

When friendship is deeply rooted, it is a plant that cannot even be uprooted by a storm....

3 Heart-Healthy Ways to Start Your Day

While most nutritionists agree that breakfast is the most powerful meal of the day*, you can make sure that your first meal of the day packs an extra heart-healthy punch by following these three easy steps:

Go for Oatmeal or Oat-Based Cereals
Oats are one of the best natural sources of soluble fiber. Three grams of soluble fiber per day, when part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Grab Some Fruit
Fruits and vegetables provide a wide range of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that can help protect against the effects of aging, and help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease. Make sure you get at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Watch Your Intake of Sodium
Many processed breakfast foods contain high levels of sodium for flavor and as a preservative. While sodium is important to the body, a high sodium diet is associated with hypertension (also known has high blood pressure). To minimize your intake of sodium, read labels and avoid foods that are high in sodium.

For an easy way to get all of these heart-health benefits in one food, check out Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal and new Instant Oatmeal, which contain 1 gram of soluble fiber from oats plus heart-healthy vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. Heart to Heart Cereal and Instant Oatmeal are low in sodium, too! As an added benefit, Kashi products are made from nutritious ingredients that are minimally processed and free of artificial sweeteners, colors and preservatives.

How to Choose The Right Parfum

Sunday, April 5, 2009
A perfumes scent will greatly differ within its surroundings. Your impression of a scent sprayed in a large heavily scented department store can be different than sprayed in your own home. Differences in temperature and humidity can also play a huge part in the smell of the perfume. However the main differences in the olfactory effect of a perfume is the compounds it contains, which will evaporate at relatively different speeds, this will affect all brands of perfume.

The way a perfume is described by the perfumers is by its fragrance composition. Top note, heart note and base note. This explains the way a scent develops and will be completely different in every perfume.

If you are searching for that perfect perfume, don't overdo it by spraying many, many different perfumes all over you as you nose will go "blind" and you will not be able to tell if you like the fragrance or not.

You should only test about four or five different perfumes at any time; you should spray these on an unperfumed part of your body and as far apart from each other as possible. In addition, a perfume will smell different on the individuals skin, what smells good on one person could smell totally different on yourself, this should be taken into consideration before choosing the right perfume.

Perfume is meant for people to enjoy when they are in close quarters with you, not for the people across the other side of the room. Don't apply too much perfume at any one time as this may make your scent appear too strong and you may not achieve that ideal perfumed fragrance.

Perfumes can be divided into several fragrance categories - floral, spice, citrus, marine or woody for example. And while fragrance is used as a very general term, to be more accurate fragrances can be broken down into five types -

Perfume - this is the strongest and purest form of fragrance. It is made of up to 40% of fragrance oils and therefore is the most expensive - but the scent lasts the longest. True perfume is usually dabbed on rather than sprayed onto the skin.

Eau de parfum - is the most common type of perfume and comprises up to 14% of fragrance oils. Most of the scent is lost after a few hours but about a third will remain until the very next day. It’s better to apply the scent to spots where the skin is warmest, on the wrists and ankles, on the inside of the elbow, on your inner thighs or between your breasts. But not behind your ears as there are too many glands that can alter the way a fragrance smells.

Eau de toilette - is the weakest of the fragrances with up to approximately 3% of fragrance oils and will only last a couple of hours. One way to make the scent last longer is to rub some into the hair by your temples or run some through your hair with your brush.

Eau de cologne - was the most general fragrance in use about 300 years ago but is very rarely made anymore. The modern day equivalent is eau fraiche and all the major perfume houses like Dior and Elizabeth Arden produce them and they act a little like a concentrated eau de toilette.
